1. While using a 64-bit 1394 PCI card, connect the card into a 64-bit 66MHz PCI. Due to this you will able to take full advantage of wider bus bandwidth, and helps to reduce the number of corrupt images occurrences.
2. Try to avoid motherboards that use integrated graphics controllers.
3. Ensure the host system has a fast CPU
4. Limit any heavy IO operations, that might occur while running the 1394 devices
5. Ensure adequate power is getting to the camera.
6. Try a different 1394 card that provides larger FIFO buffers.
